Dr. Utsav Kumar Singh

Dr. Utsav Kumar Singh completed his PhD from University of Delhi and is currently a Fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi. Before joining CSDR he taught Economics at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi. He was also an ICSSR Post-Doctoral Fellow under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

His research focuses on comparative political economy, democratic institutions, welfare policies, and human development, with a regional emphasis in federal democracies. He has also conceived an alternate development programme for drugs addicts in India.

Dr. Singh has published two books from Springer Nature on pertinent issues of human development in the global south and his research has been extensively featured in SAGE, World Focus, and Kurukshetra. He has contributed to policy papers for the Narcotics Control Bureau (Govt. of India) and occasionally writes for Financial Express, The Wire, and The Quint on governance and policy issues.
He has been invited for academic collaborations and talks at Georgia State University (USA), Ural Federal University (Russia), and the University of Pretoria (South Africa) and has been featured in Times Higher Education and Asianet Newsable for his insights on governance and policy.
